I worked my whole life up until 10 years ago when I hurt my lower back 3 days before 911... the doctors put me off on disability and I never received my SSI and SSA until June of 2007. By then, bills were way behind and 2 of my children were grown.For many years I was unable to do basic things like walking erect, sitting, or even sleeping for more than 10 minutes at any given time..I have 2 beautiful grandchildren now and I still suffer daily but I have learned to live with the chronic and excessive pain I experience. Having raised my 3 children alone for 90 % of their lives with little or no support from their father, I learned to budget money fairly well: but how do you live on $694 a month with no help... I struggle and their are many days I don't eat because I am afraid I won't have food in my home if my children come to visit. Obama says we don't need a SSI raise because there is NO COST OF LIVING INCREASE... well maybe there isn't in his world where everything is paid for and he gets whatever he wants but in my world ( as well as many others), we're scraping below the rock bottom....we have not had a COLA in over 3 years and many of us are either homeless or damn near it... if anyone knows of any assistance programs in TN that can help me lead a better life, help pay for chiropractic care so I can lessen the pain I live with, food pantries etc in the Nashville area please let me know.... I am tired of suffering and it is extremely depressing.
